Tonight was a very busy evening! Thank you to everyone who came, spoke, and made it a great meeting!

Here are some of the highlights.

‘Evaluate to Motivate’ workshop facilitated by TM Thompson.

She gave us 5 key points:

1. Show that you are interested. 2. Consider the speaker’s objectives 3. Personalise your language 4. Evaluate the speech, not the person. 5. Promote self esteem.

Doing these things mean that the other person is more likely to remember the evaluation and to feel encouraged to try their best next time. Ms. Thomspon succeeded in providing an interesting and relevant workshop for both new and experienced members of our club.

We also enjoyed two very impressive ice-breaker speeches from TMs Sato and Rouse; they were impressive because they chose to speak in their non-native language. It is always exciting to see people take their first steps in Toastmasters, and I look forward to hearing more from them.

TM Iwaki treated us to some exciting displays of his magical skills, which tied in well with the TM Yang’s Table Topics questions on self-hypnosis.

We also had another first, with TM Lee in a leadership role, Toastmaster of the Evening. He ensured that a very busy meeting ran smoothly and efficiently.

And, at breakneck efficiency, TM Kaneko was interviewed, inducted, and welcomed by TM Hirose.

………

Thanks again!

Helen
