20 questions on meeting roles

When we joined Toastmasters, we promised to ‘Prepare fully for each assignment’. However, it takes time to learn what that really means, so I’m running a brief workshop on Wednesday December 2nd. Hope you can join!

The workshop will give you the answer to the following TRUE or FALSE will be prize for the person who answers most correctly!

Toastmaster of the Evening (TmoE)

1. TRUE or FALSE?
You should always contact the prepared speakers personally at least a week before the meeting to check their title, goals, and times.

2. TRUE or FALSE?
The correct order to announce a speaker is ‘Name, Title, Title, Name’, e.g., ‘Toastmaster Rouse’, ‘Fear’, ‘Fear’, Toastmaster Rouse.

Prepared Speaker

3. TRUE or FALSE?
Let the TmoE and your evaluator know the details of your speech as late as possible.
4. TRUE or FALSE?
You do not need to bring your manual to the meeting.

Evaluator

5. TRUE or FALSE?
Get in touch with the speaker and discuss the goals on the day of the speech.
6. TRUE or FALSE?
Start your evaluation by summarizing the content of the speech.
7. TRUE or FALSE?
One or two points to improve is enough.

Table Topics Master

8. TRUE or FALSE?
Give a brief introduction to your questions.
9. TRUE or FALSE?
Ask guests to speak before members.
10. TRUE or FALSE?
Give the same question to different people.

Time keeper

11. TRUE or FALSE?
The TmoE will tell you the speech times.
12. TRUE or FALSE?
Put the red flag up to show the speaker has to finish within 30 seconds.
13. TRUE or FALSE?
Put the green flag up when the speaker has met the minimum time.

Vote counter
14. TRUE or FALSE?
If you are counting votes in the first half, you will only be recording the result for best Table Topic.
15. TRUE or FALSE?
We vote for English and Japanese separately ONLY for Table Topics.
16. TRUE or FALSE?
You need to keep a close eye on where the box with the votes is.

Grammarian

17. TRUE or FALSE?
Don’t correct TM if they make a mistake in their non-native language.
18. TRUE or FALSE?
Comment on one or two grammatical errors and praise effective use of words or phrases.

Member with no role

19. TRUE or FALSE?
Tell one of the two TmoEs if you can attend.
20. TRUE or FALSE?
Greet visitors warmly, ask them questions, and help them enjoy the meeting.
